Everything You Need to Know About Molds in Your Homes

Are you suffering from any allergic reactions like sneezing, runny nose, red eyes, and skin rash? There must be some mold infestation in your home. People who are diagnosed with serious mold allergies also suffer from shortness of breath and even asthma attacks. But how would you know if there’s mold growing in your home?

Most molds grow from wet or moist areas and is a continuous problem in all states like Texas. This usually happens if your house has been flooded or if there are any water leaks behind your walls or under your sink. Molds mostly like thrive in places where water remained the longest. Most molds can be found growing in the basement, behind the walls, or under the floors.

A high amount of moisture in an area can be a sign of a mold problem. It usually occurs on metal pipes and glass windows. Rusting indoor pipe is also an indication that there is a high amount of condensation in your home.

Once you see mold patches in your house means that mold growth has started to spread. Some mold growth may look white and thread- like while other mold can be black, gray- brown, or white in color. Ignoring any appearance of mold can become a bigger problem in the long run. Some of the symptoms of mold infestation are headaches, shortened attention span, dizziness, and even memory loss. These symptoms can get worse if get thoroughly exposed to mold growth.

Reducing moisture is the best way to control the mold growth. You may try using ‘dehumidifiers’ or air conditioners in hot, humid climate to reduce air moisture. You also have to keep the air conditioning drip pans clean to prevent even further mold growth. Make sure that you have enough insulation to cold surfaces to reduce condensation. Fixing leaks and seepage can prevent mold growth, especially under your sink. Any stagnant water can only trigger its growth. Open doors and windows to increase air circulation and carry heat to any cold surface.

Molds can damage more than your health, but the value of your house as well. Your house’s value will greatly depreciate if it has been found to have mold issues. Based on some studies, most insurance policies don’t even cover damages resulted from mold infestation. That’s why homeowners in every city, including Austin Texas, are nervous about mold infestation.

The best and also the easiest way to resolve this issue is to eliminate the moisture. Mold thrives in areas where there is a high amount of moisture or condensation. Resolving the problem within 24- 46 hours can easily prevent any mold growth from happening in your home.  If you can’t find where the mold growth is concentrated, hiring an expert would be the best option.
