Moving to a new home in any city like Atlanta can be a very tiring job. You have to worry about so many things like updating your billing address, looking for a new school for your children, and most especially, packing your stuff. It may sound simple, but you’ll only start to realize all the wonderful memories that you’ve had with the house as soon as you begin boxing your items. But there are several ways on how to make your move easier and a whole lot smoother.
Make a List
Before you start packing, make sure that you’ve written everything that will be inside the box. Label each box and create a simple record keeping system. This will make sure that you know everything that’s inside the box without actually opening it. You can also place a number on every box you pack and list down what’s inside each box in a spiral-bound notebook. Make sure that you place each item based on where they’re supposed to be. Kitchen utensils should be packed together with the plates and the glasses, paper clips and staples should be packed together with folders and papers.
Have Plenty of Boxes
You can never have enough boxes when you’re moving house. So try to get as many corrugated boxes as possible. You may never know when you need a box so it’s better to always have an extra. You also need to have strong plastic packing tape to make sure that the boxes are securely in place. You may use any unprinted newsprint, packing paper, or even a bubble wrap to cushion any fragile item.
Keep Your Movers Updated
Let your movers know if you have any heavy or delicate items that are included when you move. Let them know your requirements and your expectations before booking their services. Ask them about the estimated time and cost and if they have any proper equipment as well.
But do be careful when dealing with moving companies in all states, Even in Georgia. Some are actually practicing fraudulent acts that may cost you even more. Some moving companies would give you a low estimate and will suddenly change just before that begin unpacking your items. They wouldn’t start unpacking unless you give them the amount that they’re asking, leaving you with much less budget than you hoped. So make sure that you do have other companies on your list. Compare each of them and see which moving company offers a much better proposal. Just be careful, because companies who usually offer rock-bottom prices are the ones who are a bit shady.
Choose the Right Transportation
Choose the right transportation depending on your belongings. If you have a lot, then choose a truck that can carry all your items in one trip. Choosing the wrong size only makes your moving more difficult
